At least six Iraqis were killed and 10 more were injured on a day of very light violence. No Coalition deaths were reported. Meanwhile, little news is coming out of Maysan province where a security crackdown is moving into it’s second phase.

In Baghdad, a taxi driver was shot dead in the Bayaa neighborhood. Three people were wounded when a bomb planted on a Higher Education Minister’s car exploded. Two new injured parties were reported after yesterday’s bombing in Harthiya. A car on Nidhal Street was blasted, leaving two injured. Two policemen were wounded when a bomb blew up in Andalus Square. Also, two dumped bodies were found.

The bodies of two brothers, who were kidnapped a few days ago, were found in Baquba; their family had returned to the area just a few weeks ago. At least one other dumped body was reported.

A suicide bomber and a passerby were injured when their car exploded in Kirkuk. A U.S. patrol was also blasted, but no casualties were as yet reported.

An IED halted operations at a Kut power plant.

Several adhesive bombs were found near Amara.

In Nasariya, 22 suspects were detained. Sixty-five more were arrested in nearby al-Shatra. U.S. forces said they arrested five “special groups” leaders in Baghdad and Hilla; “special groups” refers to militants who are supported by Iran. As many as 25 al-Qaeda suspects were also captured.
