At least nine Iraqis were killed and 19 more were wounded in the latest attacks. One U.S. soldier died from a non-combat injury in northern Iraq, while a second U.S. soldier was killed in a vehicular accident.
A bomb targeting a police patrol in Samarra left four dead and two injured, all policemen.
In Mosul, a bomb in the Suez intersection injured an Iraqi soldier and a civilian; a policeman was killed when Iraqi soldiers fired their weapons after the explosion. Another bomb killed a sports reporter and wounded two colleagues. Five civilians were wounded in yet another bombing.
North of Kirkuk in Omar Mandan village a woman’s body bearing gunshot wounds was discovered.
In Baghdad, two TV journalists and a civilian were wounded when a bomb attached to their car blew up in Adhamiya. A shell fell on Palestine St., injuring a policeman.
A roadside bomb near Haswa killed the driver and wounded three others.
A truck driver was killed during a bomb blast in Iskandariya.
An old landmine in Safwa Plantations, west of Basra, wounded one person.
Fifteen suspects were detained in Kirkuk. Later, another 46 suspects were reported captured. A suspected al-Qaeda leader was among them.
Dhi Qar police defused a bomb planted on railroad tracks connecting Nasariya with Basra. The railway is a part of the route that connects the south with Baghdad. Cannon and mortar shells were discovered elsewhere.
A U.S. humvee in Tikrit was damaged during a hand grenade attack. No casualties were reported.
