51 Killed across Iraq as Battle for Ramadi Progresses Slowly

Iraq has asked the United Nations to help convince Turkey to remove its troops from Iraqi territory. Ankara has, so far, refused all requests. Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani called on Iraq to show no tolerance to those who violate Iraq’s sovereignty.

Authorities believe that the Islamic State militants are down to about 300 members in Ramadi. However, urban warfare is difficult, and progress is slow. Some families are using the advances to escape the city.

At least 51 were killed and three were wounded:

Militants executed three army officers in Badush.

In Qayara, militants executed a judge who was taken from Tal Afar six months ago.

Fighters from the Albu Nimr tribe rescued six people in Barwana.

In Qaim, 22 militants were killed.

A roadside bomb in Mosul killed four militants and wounded three more. Unidentified gunmen killed two militant snipers.

Six militants were killed in Husayba.

In the Makhoul Mountains, six militants were killed.

Four militants were killed in Ramadi.

Airstrikes killed two militants in Hit.

In Baghdad a militant was killed.
