Water Official Among 78 Killed in Iraq

At least 78 were killed and 18 were wounded:

In Baghdad, the body of a government official was found hours after he and another official were kidnapped. The fate of the other official is unknown. They both worked for the Ministry of Water Resources. Separately, a roadside bomb killed one person and wounded three more.

In Khalidiya, mortars killed two civilians and wounded 10 more.

Three soldiers were killed and five were wounded during a suicide attack in Saqlawiya.

Gunmen killed a civilian in Madaen.

Airstrikes on Qaim left at least 40 militants dead.

Thirty militants were executed in Mosul for planning a coup.
