67 Killed, 57 Wounded As Militants Fail Iraq Town Takeover

In Anbar:

Militants tried to take control of Amiriyat al-Falluja. Six policeman, four civilians and 15 militants were killed. The takeover failed. This town is south of Falluja and is home to several families that fled Falluja during previous tensions. Shelling killed two civilians and wounded three more.

Eight militants were killed in areas west of Falluja. Clashes took place. Shelling and artillery fire killed five and wounded 10 more. Two civilians were wounded clashes.

Two separate suicide bombers in Ramadi killed one soldier and wounded four more.

Three soldiers were killed and four more were killed in a suicide bombing in Hit.

Elsewhere:

An I.E.D. in Jurf al-Sakhar killed four soldiers and wounded five more.

A bomb killed a commander and wounded 11 soldiers in Latifiya.

In Baghdad, a bomb killed two soldiers and wounded five more. Gunmen killed a civilian.

Last night, a blast killed one person and wounded five others in Baquba.

A sticky bomb in Taji killed a policeman.

In Mosul, three policemen were wounded in a blast. A policeman and two civilians were wounded in a separate blast. Security forces killed four militants.

Two soldiers were wounded in a blast in Ein al-Jahash.

Several farms were set on fire in Qara Tapa.
