Random Bombings, Gunfire Leave 34 Dead in Iraq

Various attacks left at least 34 dead and 40 wounded across Iraq today. The violence even touched Iraqi Kurdistan when mortars fell on a home.

Five people were killed and 14 more were wounded when a car bomb blasted worshippers exiting a Shi’ite mosque in Madaen.

Mortars struck a home in Sireen village in Suleimaniya, killing two people and wounding seven more.

Three bombs in al-Qanater left two dead and five wounded.

In Dour, a Sahwa member was killed and another was wounded in a sticky bombing. A second blast that drew spectators killed another two people and wounded three more.

Two soldiers were killed and three more were wounded in a blast in Samarra.

A car bomb killed three policemen in Kirkuk province.

In Baiji, two people were killed and a child was wounded in a bombing.

Two policemen were killed as they tried to defuse a bomb on a road near the city of Kirkuk.

Security forces in Nineva province reported killing two gunmen during an operation. Gunmen killed a civilian and a soldier.

In Mosul, a suicide bomber killed a soldier and wounded another.

A policeman was killed and two more were wounded in a car bombing in Albu Jabir.

An I.E.D. in Qadisiya left one policeman dead and two more wounded.

A policeman was killed in a sticky bomb attack in Tikrit.

In Basra, a former politician was assassinated.

A sniper wounded a policeman in Falluja.

Three gunmen were killed during a security operation in Udhaim.
