Fake, fake, fake – I’m talking about the latest anti-Iranian propaganda coming out of Washington, which claims the Iranian Revolutionary Guards were involved in a “plot” to take out the Saudi ambassador to the US and blow up both the Saudi and Israeli embassies. The narrative reads like a formulaic melodrama: two Iranians, one a naturalized US citizen, purportedly approached someone they thought was a member of a Mexican drug cartel – according to the indictment [.pdf], it was a “sophisticated” drug cartel, not the plebeian sort – and proposed paying him $1.5 million to murder Adel al Jubeir, the Kingdom’s ambassador in Washington – oh, and by the way, the Iranians supposedly said, “Are you guys any good with explosives?”
The key to understanding just how fake this story is can be found in the New York Times report, which informs us:
“For the entire operation, the government’s confidential sources were monitored and guided by federal law enforcement agents, Preet Bharara, the United States Attorney for the Southern District, said in the news conference. ‘So no explosives were actually ever placed anywhere,’ he said, ‘and no one was actually in ever in any danger.’”
Translation: the whole thing is phony from beginning to end.
This is another one of US law enforcement’s manufactured “anti-terrorist” triumphs, where the feds set somebody up, fabricate a “crime” out of thin air, and then proceed to “solve” a case that never really existed to begin with. This has been the general pattern of our “anti-terrorist” operations in the US since the beginning – because finding and catching real terrorists is much too hard, at least for our Keystone Kops. Instead of going out and actually, you know, looking for the Bad Guys, and then apprehending them, they lure some unsuspecting Muslim immigrant into a trap, and spring it when the time is right.
The long narrative spun by the indictment tells us everything but what we really need to know, which is: how is it that these two Iranian “terrorists” just happened to meet up with a Mexican drug cartel assassin who just happened to be a longtime DEA informant? I guess that would be giving too much away: far better to spice up the story with scary details, such as the conversation between one of the alleged plotters and the informant, in the course of which the former says “If you have to blow up the restaurant and kill a hundred Americans, well then f*ck ‘em!”
The credibility rating of this story, taken on its face, is close to zero. Let’s say the Iranians really were plotting to kill the Saudi ambassador on American soil: would they contract it out to the Mexican Mafia, send all kinds of traceable money wires from Iran to the US, and not care if they killed a hundred Americans in the process of achieving their goal? Or would they send some fanatic, who would not only do it for free but also eliminate himself (or herself)? This flimsy cock-eyed tale is so transparently fake that it’s an embarrassment to the United States of America. Can’t our spooks do better than this?
This fabrication marks a new trend in the field of anti-Iranian war propaganda. Previously, the War Party was relying on the same technique they used in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq: the old “weapons of mass destruction” gambit. The big problem with that is it’s old, and tired: no one believes it anymore [.pdf]. Once burned, twice shy, as the saying goes. This latest lie is a fresh angle on a continuing theme, merely substituting Iran for the traditional bogeyman known as al-Qaeda.
That this story involves the Mexican drug cartels, and Attorney General Eric Holder proclaiming that we’re going to “hold the Iranian government accountable,” has got to be some kind of sick joke: after all, here is a man who stood by and watched while US law enforcement agents let guns travel over the US border to arm those very same cartels. Is this “coup” for the Justice Department the pay-off for that harebrained scheme – and when is Holder going to be held accountable?
That our government would float a narrative like this without any apparent regard for the basic rules of fiction-writing – create believable characters who do believable things – is Washington’s way of showing contempt for the Iranians, the American people, and anyone else who stands in the way of their war agenda. They don’t care if it’s not believable. They think Americans will swallow anything, that we’re too busy trying to survive day-to-day, these days, to inquire much further than the “official” account. And of course our brain-dead media, which is reduced to a chiefly stenographic role, isn’t going to ask any inconvenient questions.
This story is very scary – not because it’s credible, or believable, because it is neither. However, it’s the most frightening story I’ve heard in quite a while because it shows that the US government is bound and determined to go to war with Iran, no matter what the consequences. Throwing caution to the winds, our rulers have decided to go all out against Tehran – all the better to mask our current economic malaise under the damage done by the tripling and quadrupling of oil prices. This way, Obama can blame our crashing economy on Tehran, rather than his own discredited policies – and sideline the Republicans, who have been criticizing him for being “soft” on Iran.
The making of American foreign policy is all about domestic politics. By preparing the country for war with Iran, Obama will not only defang the GOP, but also appease the all-important Israel lobby, which has been beating the war drums for years.
What Obama and his gang are hoping is that the American people are too tired, too beaten down, and too broke to care enough about this latest exercise in war propaganda to question it. Certainly the “mainstream” media, which is Obama’s loudest cheering section, isn’t about to question it.
Here is where the administration has probably miscalculated: people are just angry enough to wonder “why now?” They’re just broke enough to resent being asked to pay for yet another holy crusade overseas. And they’re just tired enough of the bullsh*t that gets reported as “news” day after day to start asking all kinds of uncomfortable questions about this latest offering by the Washington fable factory.
The Americans are already backing away from the assertion that the Iranian government is directly responsible for the actions of these two individuals, averring that top Iranian officials didn’t “necessarily” know what was going on. As the details of this case become known, Holder’s story is going to start unraveling like a substandard sweater – and you can read all about that unraveling right here, at Antiwar.com….

I don't believe a word of it. The Zionists who control the State, Justice and Homeland Security Departments have fabricated this event to egg the USA on to invade Iran for the sake of Israel security. And the typical Zionist media, CNN, Fox and others, will play it for all its worth. Unfortunately most Americans just don't understand how manipulated this "greatest government on the earh" is and will likely believe it at face value. Schumer and Kantor will step right up to the plate. In 30 years, when our ties to Israel have bankrupted the nation (Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, who knows where), we will look back and see just how we have been used by our best friends in the Middle East. With friends like that, who needs enemies.

Iran is our enemy. We must attack now, otherwise we will be overrun by these same kind of terrorists.
They want to blow up our tall buildings. That's what they are after. They want to destroy our beautiful skylines and ruin our morning breakfest as we look out of our condo's at our beautiful American rivers, lakes and streams. By doing so they will ruin create doubt and American men will question their own virility.
The complete and total destruction of Iran must begin now! The longer we wait the more damage.

The script for this "plot" was probably hand-delivered direct from AIPAC to Holder. As soon as I heard that, btw, the Israeli embassy was targeted for bombing also, I knew the whole thing was bogus – not that the other inconsistencies and absurdities weren't enough but this was the giveaway line. Israel must be getting really desperate to think that something as badly concocted as this was going to pass the smell test.

It's laughable. The audacity of deception. How many times do they think they can fool the world with their 3 sorry excuses for war: weapons of mass destruction, "he wants to (has, will, is going to) kill his own people by golly!", and now the scripted foiled plots that are more fake than a MTV reality show.
Can't wait for tomorrow's herd media headlines advertising this phoney baloney. Oh, and the joy of hearing the Republican candidates clamoring for Ahmadinejad's head. Moth Romney swearing he'll bomb Iran before Ricardo Perry does, Pizza Boy guaranteeing he'll nuke Iran as quickly as you can say bibi. No one tired of this pathetic show?
I guess all of this is preferable of sorts to the alternative, some tragic event where Americans are emotionally compelled to go along with whatever barbarity the shadow government comes up with.

justin,
please continue to follow the facts here and report to us with priority. i hope this does escalate to the UNSC so facts come out and people ask questions regarding this plot. I cant wait till the iranians throw this in our faces when the truth becomes public; that this was all a hoax like the "you will explode in a couple of minutes" persian gulf navy confrontation that never happened and turned out to be a random phillipino on a radio. Of course, our government will try to silence or evade the fact that their own pie has just hit them in the face and CNN wil just never report it as a hoax after this has all proved to be fake

Never been on your site before, and frankly, think I probably disagree with most of you…most of the time. That said, I follow the situations and dynamics in the Middle East closely with particular focus on trying to understand each entity's (whether they be national, ethnic, tribal, or provinvcial) viewpoint and specific interest. These views do not always coincide with US interests, but it is difficult to imagine an entity with Iran's specific interests and considerable investments in these interests, would jeapordize if not license the destruction of its most important and sensitive operations and programs; a.) for the sake of what amounts to a mid to upper mangement level NON-Royal family member that the IRGC could probably eliminate in the privacy of his own home…in Saudi Arabia, not publicly at a bar in Georgetown (D.C.). And b.) utilizing as high risk a semi-professional, not to mention highly visible and heavily surveiled group as a Mexican drug cartel. That brand of mess is neither particularly plausible nor practical for a state sponsored military arm of a government whose primary aspiration is nuclearization for peaceful purposes (that position notwithstanding). Bottom line: Ask yourself, "I'm months away from being the lead on armscontrolwonk.com and getting a seat at the proliferation treaties negotiations, and I buy the Guitar Guy from El Mariachi to kill the Saudi Ambassador to the U.S.?"

BBC radio reported on this last night, and the interviewing reporter kept saying in effect, "but this doesn't make sense." If this story is advanced marketing for a war on Iran, well, that will really finish off the US, EU, and Japanese economies. Half of the world's oil comes from the Persian Gulf. Making it into a war zone, and casting radiation over the whole area when we bomb Iran's nuclear reactors . . . well . . . that is not a good way to lower oil prices. Maybe it is time to buy a lot of canned goods, a bicycle, and some gardening tools.

There is a 2006 report to Congress on the Mexican drug cartels. Search online for "CRS Report to Congress: Mexican Drug Cartels". On p. 7, it says, "In 2006, the National Drug Intelligence Center estimated that Mexican and Colombian drug trafficking organizations annually generate between $8.3 and $24.9 billion in wholesale drug earnings in the United States." A billion is a thousand millions. Why would a cartel earning many thousands of millions even consider a side job for measly one million, a job that would cause them to be the full-force target of the Pentagon, CIA, FBI, Homeland Security, DEA, etc.? Why would alleged terrorists think a mere one million would be enough to hire a drug cartel? I do not doubt that the FBI has audio recordings and bank transfer records of the accused. But I doubt that the accused were professional terrorists and I doubt that the Mexicans were from sophisticated drug cartels. The math does not add up.

The allegations against Iran are as bonafide as WMD in Iraq and that the post-9/11 American offensive was reciprocity against Afghanistan because they allegedly allowed Osama bin Laden to live in a cave in the Safed Koh Mountains of Paktia. Truth is…the Taliban offered bin Laden on the proverbial platter to the Bush administration but to no avail. America was focused on pipeline contracts and energy flow devoid of Russian competition. In addition, Mullah Omar kept bin Laden under virtual house arrest to prevent him from causing trouble for the fledging regime.
This Iran gig, though sophmoric in concept and originality is a product of Israel and their powerful AIPAC lobby. Tel Aviv has been active for years attempting to convince Washington to attack Iran.

I don't believe that it is their intention nor wish to lower the price of oil. If they did want to they could have done it long before now. For whatever reason they've convinced themselves of, it looks and feels more like the intent is completely destroying the middle class which a drastic spike in oil prices just might do. Why they would want to do this is beyond me. Perhaps they think that once done the American people (and Europeans also) would meekly roll over and do as they are told…much like they do most of the time now. Perhaps they believe there is no danger for themselves in creating a society where there is no, dare I say, Hope?
And yes, it's been a good time to larder up and learn how to subsist on your own for a long time now.

“isolationist” (really an anti-meddling) is a code word used by england and her agents in usa to decry those people in America who do not want the whole of usa resources put to the benefit of English race and england and who may not want the perpetual wars being waged by england on the strength of American arms
it is not only neocons who are for perpetual war it is the english race so called British who are instigating the perpetual war of course the English are too coward and weak to fight on their own so they have arranged a charade called NATO to do their dirty work.
Decisions in nato are made not in berlin or Belgium but only in London and some British agents’ place in Washington. NATO WAS CREATED TO KEEP THE INFLUNCE OF WEAKNED BRITISH BASTARDS TO KEEP EUROPEANS DOWN (ESPECIALLY GEMRNS AND FRENCH) AND KEEP RUSSIAN THREATEND. BBC Joins Smear Campaign Against Assange and Wikileaks
By ISRAEL SHAMIR
The campaign by the establishment press against Julian Assange is intensifying. CBS’s 60 Minutes tried to trash him last Sunday, but Assange left CBS’ interviewer, Steve Kroft, floundering. Last Sunday also saw New York Times editor Bill Keller consume several thousand words in the NYT’s Magazine abusing Assange with disgraceful lack of scruple, Assange being a man who gave the New York Times some actual news scoops, instead of its regular staple of gastroporn from Sam Sifton. Here Israel Shamir reports, with some personal involvement, on the impending slurring of Assange on the BBC, and the attacks on him in The Guardian. AC/JSC

To stay with the automobile metaphors, we hear a lot about the need to "jump start" the US economy. A new war on Iran will not jump start the economy. It will destroy it. Maybe if you are the last person left with $89, you could buy Goldman-Sachs for that, or IBM, or GE, or GM. Then the a war on Iran might seem like a good deal. But for most Americans, with nothing left, it will not be fun. Gotta go now. I have to buy a case of sardines and bicycle and $89 of silver coins.

Redacting Corruption
The Guardian's Political Censorship of Wikileaks
By ISRAEL SHAMIR
Although we are treated to daily accounts of how the net tightens around Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, the contents of the US embassy cables have been doled out to us in spoonfuls. To add insult to injury, it is now clear that The Guardian edits and distorts the cables in order to protect their readers from unflattering remarks about how their corporations behave overseas. The Guardian has deliberately excised portions of published cables to hide evidence of corruption.
A year ago, on January 25, 2010, the US Embassy in Astana, Kazakhstan sent out the secret cable ASTANA 000072, entitled KAZAKHSTAN: MONEY AND POWER. The cable chronicled the US Ambassador’s private dinner with a senior Kazakh government official named Maksat Idenov. At the time, Idenov headed the Kazakh state oil and gas company and represented the state in its dealings with foreign oil companies, including British Gas and ENI. A redacted version of the cable has been published, and so we have been given the rare privilege of viewing The Guardian’s editing process in action. It looks like nothing so much as political self-censorship.

Yes, this is a scary new story for the very reason that it takes about two minutes to understand that it involved yet another sting against an immigrant who was probably bored with his homeland as it hits the skids of a bad economy, and hoping to strike it big with some harebrained scheme dreamed up by DEA and the Justice Department, and maybe even the Pentagon. But too many screenwriters spoils the plot.
I also think there may be a further motive than just going after Iran (because Saudi Arabia insists!) – it would make it easier to send our military into Mexico, wouldn't it, if that would mean chasing terrorists the way we used to chase Pancho Villa. Think of all the preparation that has been laid to convince the public it will be totally necessary now. And for the elections: now it will be said that Obama cares about the borders. That's a "sidelight" to the story that could be played up don't you think?

Unfortunately, it is the American electorate that puts these presidents you refer to in office in the first place, and are dumb enough to think that democracy means two choices at the polls. The DoJ gets it's instructions, either directly or indirectly, from the president. they wouldn't fabricate this kind of garbage and air it on national TV if they thought their bosses wouldn't approve.

Wrong. AIPAC is not that stupid, and even if they were, have no means of actually concocting such a fable, even though they would agree with the motive behind it. AIPAC dominates Middle east policy, not the specific details of carrying it out. This sounds like a typical fake set up created by a "law enforcement" agency, acting with tacit approval of their nominal boss, the president.

What? are you people really that naive? Iran hates SA and the leaders of that county. What better way then to kill two birds with one stone, kill the SA Ambassador and make the US look bad.
If anyone here believes that Iran is not willing to kill, drop a nuke, or give a nuke to another group then you really should start reading about and studying that country and its polices.

Perhaps they really have nothing in mind at all, except putting out this phony story to test the public's reaction to another front in our endless "war on terror," or whatever they call it now. They have no wish to destroy the "middle class," they just can't help themselves anymore. The system is broken, and has the reverse Midas touch, especially domestically. They are only competent at starting conflicts, not at ending them, and certainly not at running the country. They are a near perfect reflection of the ruling elite that finances their campaigns: greedy, short sighted, and belligerent.

Interesting. An alleged Iranian plot, so what to do about it — ATTACK MEXICO! After all, it was allegedly a "sophisticated" (as opposed to "pedestrian") Mexican drug cartel that was supposed to pull off this goofy plot, and we know the Mexican govt. must be in bed with the cartels (and certainly taking their bribes), so, ipso facto, we are at war with Mexico! All we need is a Zimmerman telegram, and we can open yet another "front" in the "global war on terror," or whatever Obama calls it now.

gee the gov'e lieing about a terror attack. just like they've been doing with all of them. 9-11, 7-7, the christmas bomber and all the rest. the entire war on terror and wars in iraq, afghanistan and everywhere else are predicated on the same false premise; 9-11. this is all more psy-op BS to just condition people for the next false flag op they conduct. of course it will be arabs in caves, or some other shadowy figures with beards named blizz blazz kazzam to serve as emanuel goldstein. the war on terror serves no purpose than to be background noise for our psyches with the focus on constant fear and anxiety at a subconscious level. the specifics aren't even important as in a few days they'll run out some new propaganda piece…

As soon as this 'story' broke, I smelled dead fish and I started counting the hours before the whole thing was exposed as another fake plot our Bright Lads dreamed up. Connecting Iran with Mexican drug gangs is just too slick and it doesn't wash, no matter whose water you're using.
Typical scare-mongering politics on the part of the Obama Regime ™, and noting more. Sadly, though, there are millions of Americans who will accept the fictional terror plot as gospel and fill the forums and comments sections with equally brainless calls to 'nuke Iran' and 'invade Mexico'- why? Because sheep don't think, they just react.

Didn't claim you did Rick. Point is this particular deception originates from Democrat's. Doesn't matter if it's Republican or Democrats. Sure, the Republican candidates other than Paul Johnson and maybe Huntsman will try to be more politically correct Nationalists than the others. Both Party's are in on it.
Regardless of which "side" you, in theory favor, have to pick your key issues. Mine is to vote for the most likely candidate to end crazy foreign policy of the USA. So. far that's not a Democrat. So, I'll go with Paul and even if he doesn't win the Republican nomination, he will shave off some thinking people from the War party. Then, if Paul or even the more unlikely Johnson does not win, I'll look around for a third party anti war that best represents what I think.

Shi-ite suicide bombers, are there such things these days, don't think so – or not many.
Hundreds of Shi-ites get killed by Sunni suicide bombers in Iraq, Pak, Iran every month. All of the suicide attacks against Israel ave been committed by Sunni. The people who flews the planes into the WTC were Sunni.
Hezbollah did use suicide tactics in 1983 to drive truck bombs into the US & French military bases. That operation had a fatwa from Khomeini that authorised specific individuals to conduct that specific attack, I believe it was the only fatwa in which he authorised a suicide mission.

The people in the US GOVERNMENT (DoJ, FBI, CIA etc) have permanent jobs, the people in the ADMINISTRATION have temporary part time jobs. In most places I've worked the permanent staff get to say what can and will be done etc, the temps just get on with it.

I think the Saudi's might have hatched this plot,
Arab hatred for Iranians is ancient. Started at least 2700 years ago when Cyrus invaded and ruled in Babylon (and it is said let the Jews return to Israel), Then Cyrus' son Cambyses took Egypt, the fact that there were no Arabs in Egypt at the time and it was being run by the Greeks is a mere inconvenient truths.
We know the Saudi regime has been pressuring the USA to nuke Iran from the Wikileaked cables.
This fairy story will also provide the Saudi regime with cover when it doesn't make a song and dance when the US veto's Palestine application UN membership. "Look the US stopped the Iranians killing Saudi's with WMDs on USA soil – we have to go easy on them".

The real story is that an Iranian agent met with a Palestinian who has ties to Hamas. The Palestinian then tried to arrange an introduction between the Iranian and a North Korean agent. The North Korean was going to supply the explosives that would then be sent to a Mexican cartel member who had arranged for a Peruvian bomb maker to make the explosive device, in Cuba. The device would then be transported by a Syrian national to a Turkish delivery man who would in turn deliver it to a group of Serbians who were going to plant it for the Iranians. Fortunately for us we have great leaders like George W Bush and Obama bin Laden who allowed the FBI to use advanced wiretapping and torture techniques. So sleep well tonight knowing that they have kept us safe yet again from those goddam evil terrorists who hate us for our freedoms.

Iran wants to wipe Israel off the face of the planet. Iran wants nukes to bomb Israel, Iran wants to destroy Israel. That is all we have heard for the past few years. Israel wants to attack Iran before they get nukes. Israel and Iran are enemies. Again, that is all we have heard for the past few years.
All of a sudden we hear of a plot to kill a Saudi Diplomat in America and bombing the Israeli embassy is an afterthought? Iranians are not that stupid. Bomb someone in America. Unleash the fury of two of the greatest military machines on the planet.
It would have been more credible if they had plotted to kill an Israeli diplomat. Israel wants a first strike on Iran. America has been keeping them on a short leash in favor of diplomacy. All of a sudden they jump up out of nowhere and plot a heinous crime on American soil which can clearly be construed as an act of war against the greatest military force on the planet.

Who gets to kill two birds with one stone? If the US doesn't spank em for their masters and Saudi Arabia is stupid enough to step up to the plate and do it for them then both countries will be destroyed.
Saudi Arabia and Iran are about even change. A fight to the finish would decimate the Kingdom as well as Iran. I was just sitting here wondering about who stood to gain from Iran being involved in such a ridiculous action, when I thought. What would Iranian dissidents have to gain by plotting up this type of tripe.
What is this guy's status here in America. We know he is a Naturalized US citizen. How did he get here? Why did he apply for and receive US citizenship and on what basis? Did he come here seeking asylum?
A war of the magnitude he attempted to start is certainly not in the best interest of Iran. Why not a Jewish Ambassador? What operative of the KUDS force would be stupid enough to attempt to blow up a restaurant that does not exist?
He used a woman he was trying to sell a car to make contact with a Mexican Drug Cartel to hire an assassin. The Assassin is a government informant. Bet the woman is a government agent or her ass should be in jail for facilitating the meeting. Just another loose end by the way.
The informant knew this guy was stupid from the word giddy up go. He had no skills whatsoever. Damn, everybody knows that while KUDS may be cruddy in what they do. They are not shoddy in how they do it. They are definitely not amateurs and do not hire amateurs to do their dirty work.
This dude didn't know where the Ambassador eats, has probably never been to DC and throwing in the Israeli Embassy for flavor just puts icing on the cake of stupidity. Iran would not bomb the Israeli embassy unless they knew for sure they could repel an attactk on their Nuclear facilities.
The only thing keeping Israel from bombing them now is the US leash. Iran would not be that stupid. At the very least you don't invite two nuclear capable countries to bomb you into the stone age without some adequate means of backing them up off of you. They don't have the bomb and would not subject their people to that type of mass destruction. They are not that fanatical. Crazy yes. Stupid no.

It's such a shame that Antiwar is playing in the hands of Islamic Republic! No matter what you believe in, the fact is that Iranian government is the worst government on Earth and deserve no support from those who have double standards when it comes to human rights. Blah! Blah! Blah! Yes, we know what the apologetics for U.S. aggression talking points memo sounds like already. The right to not be bombed by a aggressive foreign power is also a "human right", you know. Easy to support an attack on another country when the Cruise Missiles won't be falling on the community you live in now. Or the one you will be living in if the Iranian regime is overthrown. Like an America version of a Green Zone in Tehran, right?
If you really are an Iranian, then how could you support Americans bombing your own people? Shame on you.
I'm married to a Cambodian farmer, so this is an issue I've strived to understand over the years. One key factor in all of this is money. Many a resident of Phnom Penh living large off the dollar circa 1969-73 would have been glad to see the peasant society of their own country wiped out, as long as they have a lot of money they don't have to work for. I simply have no respect for people like this. People who cheer on the destruction of their own countrymen at the hands of an aggressive imperialist power, just so they can live well while others suffer.
So what is your real motive for supporting a U.S. attack on Iran?

If the current president does make the decision to do a bombing campaign, then this could be the first time in history that a government has claimed it is using military force in the name of gay and lesbian rights. This isn't the Bush administration, and many a liberal will no doubt fall for this line that it's being done in part to advance gay and lesbian rights in Iran. Of course, this would be an absolute disaster for the advancement of gay lesbian rights, and human rights in general, in Iran. So opposing any escalation against Iran will present a lot more challenges to people are anti-war in principle, rather than the "anti-war" partisan Democrats we march with back in '03. This imperialist intervention will be packaged in the usual "humanitarian intervention" language with a new twist that is likely to make opposing it more difficult.

Who said that I support US attack on Iran?! On the contrary, I'm totally against it. I support the Green Movement and beleive democracy will prevail in Iran. I used to be ideologic like you but life itself taught me to be open mind and objective. Your writing reflect your presumtuous mind set about things that you don't know. As I don't know much about Cambodian and I don't pretend that I know, you should, at least, try to educate yourself about Iran and then express your view. The fact is that nothing is black and white. What I say is all people all over the world have the same needs and rights. Besides, Bush and neo-con doctorine is gone. Why so hasty judgement when everything will be clear soon?

The way you respond shows that I pushed a botton on your dogmatic mind! My question is why so hasty to call it fake when you know the truth will come out soon? Besides, if you don't defend Iranian regime, show what you, or Antiwar.com wrote to condemn human rights violations in Iran. The problem with you so called "leftist" is that you don't care about facts. All you are cocern about is your dying ideology, moron!

Justin,
This is not only extremely well-written, but it absolutely had to be said. I got up this morning unable to shake my growing concern that not only are the masses apparently accepting this obvious fraud, but it seems far too few organizations are even questioning it. Thanks for doing the MSM's job…again!

Just an off topic thought here: what about encouraging Democrats to register as Republican just before their state primary in order to vote for Ron Paul? Think about it. There is NO DEMOCRATIC presidential primary. Obama is running against himself in his own party. So the presence of these registrants on the Dem rolls is of no present use, even to the Dems. So why would Dems temporarily cross over to vote for Paul? Two reasons:
1) He is the staunchest opponent of the wars and the related attacks on civil liberties, both issues that most liberals would agree on, and voted vainly for Obama to do their bidding.
2) To f*ck up the Republicans. If Paul can get enough delegates to prevent even a first ballot coronation, all h*ll will break loose at the Republican convention. A strong vote for Paul would force the war and civil liberties issues onto the front burner, which is what the Rep establishment is terrified of. Imagine the pandemonium if he even comes close to victory!

Now don't get me wrong. I'd love to screw up the Dems just as much, but no golden opportunity exists right now, & the Dems don't need help screwing themselves right now. This, on the other hand, is a gift to all haters of the two-party system.

I consider myself an intelligent person & a patriot. I love this country. It took me 8 years to realize that 9-11 was a false flag event & that my government lied. It shattered me. My brain told me that buildings don't come down like that because it defies science & basic laws of physics but what do I know. It was WTC7 that convinced me. I never even heard of that building coming down. Then I looked at other things and saw how corrupt this government is, how many lies they've told & people know about them but yet they believe it. This fabricated lie about a never-ending war on terror is all you hear on the news (if you call that news), on TV shows, everything. I am disgusted that Congress has allowed this farce to continue. You're called a nut job, a conspiracy theorist, a birther and everyone laughs at you. This whole Iran thing is so fake that only an idiot would believe it. What country would every purposely say "come and get me, nuke me, destroy me, bomb me into the stone age & forever have foreign troops occupying my country? Who is that stupid? Nobody is that stupid. It's to create fear, distrust – problem-reaction-solution. We'll take care of you so give up your rights, trash the Constitution, the Bill of Rights. This country is so f**cked. Now with the misguided people occupying Wall Street they are walking right into a trap & the government will be forced to declare Marshall Law, confiscate guns, Fema camps here we go "to protect our citizens…." When are people going to wake up????

Human Rights violations in Iran???? What about Human Rights violation here in the US, the Constitution being ignored, the Bill of Rights ignored, the killing of US citizens by our government to our own people? No trial, no jury nothing. Yes, we went to LIbya and what are they doing there? Killing everyone they find to show who's the boss. Former US Congressman Walter Fauntroy returned from Libya and witnessed UN troops killing (beheading…) people and the UN was sent there all in the name of Human Rights. Heck, don't let facts get in the way of truth. By the time the "truth" comes out, it will be too late. The America you once knew is dead and gone.

People have grown so fearful that anything will get them on-board
to protect the "homeland". This desire for war with Iran was brewing
before Bush left office, remember how many times Bush met with Israeli
officials at the White House on Iran? Bush just didn't want another war
to be responsible for. Obama is saddled with re-election and growing
dissatisfaction from his base so a war might actually help keep him in
the Presidency.

The author of this article, Justin Raimondo, is imho being far too generous in ascribing to the Obama regime his characterization of incompetence rather than purely evil Machiavellian malevolence. Of course this 'Iranian' terror plot is a contrived construct designed to propel the USA into open military hostilities with Iran, apparently fabricated by the very same War Party that got the USA sucked into the illegal immoral preemptive invasion & occupation of Iraq. The hubris and demonstrated contempt for the memory, intolerance, and lack of intelligence of the American people is astonishing.
Could the War Party be so devoid of imagination that they would use an over-worn template for their justification for yet another war?
In pursuing this blatantly forged virtual 'Reichstag Fire' as their pretext for war, could the Obama regime actually consider this uncovered 'plot' be for real?
The Obama regime would seem to have so thoroughly abandoned the vast liberal base of the Democratic Party that their only hope for re-election is catering to the bat-shite crazy wing of the Republican Party for a 2012 election win. Not only would the Obama regime destroy the USA (and world) economy with this imminent war, but also destroy the Democratic Party from the inside. Obama's rather narrow liberal streak only becomes apparent during the campaign season — never during actual governance, during which Obama has already proved himself to be a Neo-Liberal Corporatist DINO.
It isn't merely a matter of Action, Reaction, Solution but also primarily a basic issue of forensic credibility. Truthfully answer the question 'Cui bono?' or 'Who benefits?' for the answer to the basic solution of who, exactly, is behind this plot. It certainly isn't the Iranians …
