Civil Liberties in Wartime

Earlier this month the Future of Freedom Foundation hosted “Restoring the Republic: Foreign Policy and Civil Liberties,” a conference that brought together liberals, conservatives, and libertarians in favor of peace and liberty. Among the speakers was Andrew P. Napolitano, senior judicial analyst for Fox News. A former New Jersey Superior Court judge and professor of constitutional law, Napolitano has written two books: Constitutional Chaos: What Happens When the Government Breaks Its Own Laws and The Constitution in Exile: How the Federal Government Has Seized Power by Rewriting the Supreme Law of the Land. In the videos below, Napolitano offers a primer rich in historical detail on the antagonism between “national security” and individual liberty.
