ISIS Attack Fails in Gwer; 139 Killed Across Iraq

Islamic State militants attempted to recover the town of Gwer in northern Iraq, but they failed. Bombings continued in the Baghdad region, as did fighting and airstrikes elsewhere. At least 139 people were killed and 67 were wounded.

Militants attacked the town of Gwer where they killed at least 26 Asayesh agents. Four Peshmerga were also killed and five were wounded. They were repelled, but not before 38 militants were killed.

In Baghdad, a bomb killed five people and wounded 11 more in Bayaa.

A bomb on a commercial street in Madaen killed three people and wounded nine more.

In Falluja, artillery fire killed three people and wounded nine, including children.

Clashes in Daquq left one Peshmerga dead and seven wounded. At least 10 militants were killed.

In Tuz, a blast seriously wounded a policeman. Gunmen wounded a man and his son.

A roadside bomb in Jurf al-Sakhar wounded three volunteer fighters.

Peshmerga forces killed 12 militants and wounded 20 in Wehda.

Airstrikes in Kirkuk left 17 militants dead.

A wali and 11 militants were killed during clashes in Haditha.

Airstrikes in Mosul left six militants dead.

In al-Hetawen, two militants were killed.
