Christian Man Targeted in “Safety” of Northern Iraq

Although Christians feel safer in the northern parts of the country, they remain targets for religious violence almost anywhere in Iraq. Today, one man found that out when gunmen wounded him in the northern city of Mosul. Altogether, one woman was killed while nine other Iraqis were wounded in separate attacks. Meanwhile, news has been very light this weekend due to the holidays.

In Mosul, where the Christian man was wounded, gunmen also killed a woman. Seven people were wounded during a separate explosion.

An I.E.D. planted near a Sahwa checkpoint in Yathrib wounded two members when it exploded.

An explosion in Buhriz damaged a teacher’s home.

A bomb at a market in Balad Ruz left no casualties.
