Thursday: 15 Iraqis Killed, 39 Wounded

Baghdad and Mosul, as usual, saw small but multiple attacks, but it was south of the capital where the most significant violence took place. Overall, at least 15 Iraqis were killed and 39 more were wounded across the country.

In Iskandariya, five people were killed and 20 more were wounded this afternoon during a double bombing at a market. Earlier, gunmen killed a Sahwa member in front of his home.

In Mosul, a Ninewa province council member safely survived an assassination attempt thanks to his armored vehicle. A civilian was shot dead. Gunmen killed a woman and her daughter. Two girls were also shot dead in a separate attack. Clashes left two dead and two wounded, including an al-Qaeda suspect and Iraqi soldiers. Police arrested a suspect in the murder of the director of forensics.

In Baghdad, a bomb blast killed one civilian and wounded three policemen downtown.  A policeman was wounded in a small arms attack in Karrada. In Bab al-Sharqi, a blast wounded four people, including a civilian. Three civilians were wounded in a blast in Utaifiya. A blast on Rashied St. left two Iraqis wounded. Last night, three people were wounded in an explosion in Doura.

A sticky bomb left on a car in Garma killed the driver and injured a passenger.

A car bomb was defused in Taza, with help from U.S. troops.

Two suspects were arrested outside Kirkuk.

Six suspects were captured in Basra province.

Explosives were confiscated in Zubayr.
