Saturday: 8 Iraqis Killed, 3 Wounded

Light violence left at least eight Iraqis killed and three more wounded. Meanwhile, U.S. forces have promised to hand over two prisons to their Iraqi counterparts. Also, Turkey and Iraq agreed to sign 40 cooperative agreements soon, just as Turkey also promised to release more river water to Iraq.

In Mosul, a bomb killed an 11-year-old boy and wounded two companions; a second source reported that the child was a five-year-old girl. Two policemen were killed in a shootout in Tahrir. A bomb killed two people, a solider and a civilian. Gunmen killed an off-duty soldier.

Gunmen in Zubair killed two men who belonged to the Mandaean religious sect.

A Katyusha rocket attack in Kirkuk left one wounded.

Security forces detained 33 suspects ahead of Eid festivities in Baquba.

A car bomb was defused in Mussayab.

A cache containing a missile and explosives was found in Souk al-Shyoukh.
